Welcome to Scripture & Theology
Scripture & Theology is a new communal weblog, an e-magazine of user-generated content dedicated to the intersection of biblical interpretation and the articulation of church doctrine. The site exists by and for teachers of the church—that is, theologian-exegetes and exegetical theologians whether in academics, ministry, or the laity.
If this catches your interest, you can start by subscribing to our feeds. We provided two ways to do this: (1) by RSS in your news reader, or in the event you don’t use one of these, (2) by good old fashioned email. The links for this are at the top of the page, by the search box. The latter method will drop one email in your inbox each day articles appear on S&T.
The editors also heartily invite your contributions. Please register (it’s free and open to the public), comment on posts as they appear, and consider submitting an item for publication. Even if you just want to alert fellow readers to a conference or a call for papers, we would love to hear from you.
By now you can see a few examples of the sort of thing we’re after. A menu of active categories appears in the site header; there is at least one example under each, often more. News items have a box of their own in the sidebar. See our about page for a description of the main categories, as well as for more information about this project. And if you’re inclined to submit, be sure to note our call for posts.
Finally, this site grew out of the Scripture & Theology seminar at St Andrews. Many of the initial contributors have been members of the seminar, or participants in other joint ventures between scripture and theology at St Mary’s College, St Andrews. Naturally, many of us have moved to other institutions, or else are about to. The editors firmly hope that by going digital we can continue to inform one another’s work.
Yet we are equally keen to expand. We know that many others labor at the intersection of scripture and theology, perhaps in academic research, or in preaching, or in private study. Interested? Then please do not hesitate to join in. Know others who might be? Spread the word. You can email this post, or any other one on S&T, just by clicking the link under its title.
Thanks for reading. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
