From 22–26 August 2008, at Woltersdorf (near Berlin), Germany, the Fellowship of European Evangelical Theologians (FEET) is sponsoring a conference titled Evangelical Perspectives on Spirituality.

When the Apostle Paul writes: ’the greatest of these is love‘, it seems that he is saying that for all our faith in Christ and all our hope in God, there needs to be some real outworking of these in the present. The love for God builds on, though does not replace faith and hope and their contents. The spark for Holy Spirituality is God’s love shed abroad in the hearts of those who believe. To reflect on Spirituality need not mean being engrossed with ’my experience‘ but rather with (1) the object(s) of a spiritual experience that (2) can be gathered from the witnesses of the Christian Church yesterday and today. Such a task will involve exercising some gifts of discernment, so that the Word of God might be heard from those through whom the Spirit of God has expressed himself. Without wishing completely to disown the Enlightenment and its secular mutations, only to question, qualify and enlarge its vision of the world, at this conference we aim to set forth an evangelical, Christ-centred vision of spirituality for this infant millennium. We invite you to join us in doing this.
