Who: The Christian Theological Research Fellowship (CTRF)

Where and When: The Society of Biblical Literature Annual Meeting in Boston, 2008

Topic: The Bible and the Role of Philosophy - Theology after the Hellenization Thesis

The CTRF invites proposals exploring the interaction and intersections of the Bible and/or the gospel with philosophy in the ongoing task of Christian doctrine. Especially welcome are papers responding to the passé (or is it?) hellenization thesis, wherein the pure gospel is understood to be encrusted with the barnacles of Greek philosophy by early theologians. Speakers must be members of either the CTRF or the SBL. Proposals can be made to the SBL web site (www.sbl-site.org) or to apadgett@luthersem.edu. Proposal deadline is 1 March, 2008.

About CTRF

The Christian Theological Research Fellowship is a distinctively Christian research organization in systematic and moral theology, and related disciplines. The society exists to promote and sustain fellowship and truth-seeking (fides quaerens intellectum) in theological reflection upon the Christian faith, within the mainstream of the Christian tradition. We see ourselves as a spiritual fellowship in service to the Church of Messiah Jesus.
